Parking Advice

In the past couple years, our neighborhood has exploded, becoming a destination for night life and with a huge amount of residential construction. There are lots of pluses for the tango school: more people around at all hours of the day and night, better-lit and -maintained sidewalks, great restaurants and bars, and more potential tangueros.

However, parking has become more difficult. You now need a strategy at least during later evening and night hours. Here is some advice:

  • During the day, you can almost always find parking on Frankford Ave, or on Trenton Ave between Norris and Dauphin. map

  • At night, you may need to go a little further. On weeknights, there is always parking next to the Hackett School. On two sides of the school, there is pull-in parking (as opposed to parallel), so parking is easier and more plentiful. map

  • It is as safe to walk in our neighborhood at night as anywhere in the city. There are people around and it is well-lit. If you are worried about walking back to your car after the milonga or class, we will arrange for someone to walk with you.

  • On weekends, there may not be parking next to the Hackett School. If you have been searching and really can’t find anything, the best solution is to park for free at the casino, and take a $5 uber up Frankford Ave. It’s one mile. When you are leaving, we’ll make sure to find someone to drive you to the casino, so you only have to pay the uber one-way.
