Tango on the Parkway:
Friday, September 8, 7-10 pm
Join us for the kick-off celebration for Parkway 100, the centennial celebration of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia’s grand cultural boulevard! Presented by the Parkway Council, in partnership with PECO, the cultural district open house offers 100 family-friendly activities throughout the Parkway Museums District.
The Philadelphia Argentine Tango School has been asked to organize a tango component to this event. All of the following will take place next to Swann Memorial Fountain in Logan Circle:
- Tango Performances by Agustin Venturino & Natalia Aguero (Argentina), and by Andres Amarilla & Meredith Klein (Argentine/US)
- Live music for dancing by the Oscuro Quintet
- A beginner tango class
- A 1.5 hour open-air milonga
7-7:45 pm: Tango Show - Live Music & Tango Performances
7:45-8:30 pm: Tango Class - Beginners welcome!
8:30-10 pm: Milonga with LIVE MUSIC by the Oscuro Quintet and DJ Agustin
(Afterward, let's all head to DancePhiladelphia's Friday night milonga at 1315 Buttonwood!).
All of this will take place on the BalletX Portable Floor, so you'll be dancing in comfort and pivoting with style! This is a FREE event.
