As always, this is a DANCING workshop. We will not just be sitting around analyzing. (There was some confusion about that, so I wanted to clarify. Thanks!)
"For us, the music is the primary motivator when we are dancing. We connect with our partners through it. It stimulates us to move, and it brings us into the present moment.
"In this one-day seminar, we will take as our starting point basic concepts of phrasing, and introduce essential tools for transforming the character of the dance in relation to the various elements that emerge in the music. These elements include pauses, melody, rhythm, instrumentation, the different tango orchestras, and the evolution of tango music that can be seen when studying the orchestras in their historical context.
"We will analyze the qualities and styles of the old milongueros whose dancing helped shape tango into what it is today, and who still remain an inspiration for today's modern tangueros. We will look at numerous specifics of their styles including: cadencia (cadence), density of movement, their choices of sequences, and the embrace, among others." -- Carla & Octavio
